Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, April Rose Pengilly began her career as an internationally successful model, working locally and in New York, London and Tokyo, shooting with world-renowned photographers such as Rankin and Terry Richardson, and being selected for many prestigious roles, including the face of Melbourne Fashion Festival, ambassador for leading Australian department store David Jones, and “legs” of Japanese stocking label, Atsugi.
April then turned her focus to acting study and was cast in her first major role, in the feature film LBF. The film premiered internationally at South By Southwest (USA) and in Australia at the Sydney Film Festival.
April has starred in numerous films and TV series, including Channel 7 miniseries Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door, Channel Ten miniseries Brock and acclaimed short films including Jinxed, Duffy, Lovelost, and Object, which played at the Cannes and St Tropez film festivals, and at Australians in Film showcases in Los Angeles two years in a row. In 2018, April was cast as Chloe Brennan in Australia’s longest-running drama series Neighbours, which airs internationally. April quickly became a fan favourite on the show, which was then nominated for a record four Logie Awards in 2019. April won the Inside Soap Best Daytime Star Award for her role, and remained on the show until its conclusion in late 2022. She was one of only six cast members selected from the show’s 37-year run to be part of the live international Neighbours Celebration Tour in 2023, selling out 16 dates across Europe and Australia, including 3 sold-out shows at the iconic London Palladium.
April is one of Australia’s biggest celebrity fixtures and fashion influencers, sitting front row at Fashion Week and walking the red carpet at international movie premieres, award shows, and exclusive events, including those hosted by Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Cartier, Vogue, and Hermès.
April has competed on Dancing With The Stars (Australia), and has been nominated for PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity Award. She has worked with charities including RSPCA, Sydney Children’s Hospital, The Eye Foundation and Alzheimer’s Australia. April is also an accomplished writer, having been published in magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Women’s Fitness.
April has been a celebrity guest panellist on top Australian morning show Sunrise and The Daily Telegraph’s fashion critique series Code Red. She has also worked as a television host, covering London Fashion Week for Fashion TV, and presenting for MTV. She was the first person to appear on Australia’s MTV Classic channel when it went live.
